Madeline Ansley

Madeline Ansley

My current material asks how memory, that which is
lost, struck, fragmented, is held by the physical body. I am interested in these bodily histories; how do textiles, earth, and skin remember human trance, labor, and tensions?
I look to the body as a vessel of exchange. And form becomes language.
These materials are an absorption of the past
paint-stained canvas,taut stitches, layered glimpses
and my literacy fr navigating the fluidities of life
the childhood, the memory, the fragilities, the mendings
not a return to wholeness, but a return to being.
