Just for a moment, the magpie(s) return, polymorphic in meaning and in number, revealing but not declaring, demarcating without signature. Even the well-trained ear couldn't count the melodies. This exhibition turns to the condition of being shiny-adjacent: to hover near value without fixing it, to reflect–not for clarity's sake–to move through the innocuous and the banal as sites already carrying weight. The works perform a quiet insistence, a loud reminder, sometimes something in between and, on occasion, something beyond. Not hidden, but dispersed across adjacencies, relationalities, and proximities. "Magpie" reveals and mystifies, reveling in contradiction.
