Miniatures Olivia Malone

My work is an altered depiction of common consumer goods. It is the reconstruction of everyday objects as sculptures using processes that hint at mass production techniques and colors that lend themselves to the artificial. My work embodies the essence of capitalism - as we understand it - through its nod to the following elements: repetition, quantity, and aesthetic appeal. The sculptures themselves use design techniques to project a sort of visual desire that is analogous to that of advertisements. Individually, each sculpture is a foreign object trying to fit  into the space and world around it. Collectively, these sculptures bring forth a new type of space beyond our own. My art creates a new lens for the known world around us and encourages people to rethink their own craving of certain objects as opposed to others. Overall, my work explores and encourages conversation about our relationship with everyday objects through the perspective of manufacturing, accessibility, and desire.
