Interference Patterns opened on February 21, 2026, at the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College. Bringing together nearly 100 works from the early 2000s to the present, the survey exhibition traces the arc of artist John Sparagana’s practice through his evolving approaches to making.

John Sparagana is a Houston and Chicago-based artist and the Grace Christian Vietti Chair in Visual Art and Chair of the Department of Art at Rice University. 

Interference Patterns is organized by Solveig Nelson, PhD, curator of photography and new media at the Benton Museum of Art, with Max Uehara, post-baccalaureate curatorial fellow. The project was developed in close dialogue with the artist.
