empty playgrounds, sacred soup is a conglomeration of multimedia works tied together through their focus on magnification, distortion, and manipulation of everyday images and texts. The exhibition features installations by Katie Kirkpatrick, Lily Weeks, Peyton Chiang & Jefferson Xia working in collage, audio-video, and interactive media respectively. empty playgrounds, sacred soup was titled after its themes of isolation, childhood, and collection, which are explored through a mixture of ordinary and absurd reflections. Whether it be through using magnifying lenses to amplify the personal reflections of feminine persons, exploring the propensity for self-reflection through video archives, or positioning projections to alter silhouettes, the exhibition aims to push overlooked reflections towards the level of the sacred.
