I collect everyday items from the world around me.
I collect leaves from trees, acorns from the
sidewalks, insects found in the corner of a room,
scraps of fabric, items that were once loved and
given up. I work with texture and things that squish
or clink, things I can feel with my fingers and
palms. My art comes from the practice of paying
close attention to the world around me, seeing galls
on trees, threads in a fabric, or veins in the wing of
an insect.

I then translate those observations to objects, to
tangible things that take up space in the world, the
same as the inspiration but in a more easily visible
way. The important part is that whatever I make is
interesting to my hands, it fulfills a sensory and
tactile need for me during the creation process.
