Kexin’s work delves into journaling facets of her personal life, mostly "complaints," by adapting traditional Chinese painting techniques in non-traditional and personal ways.
Driven by strong emotions and reflections, her art serves as a medium to mirror these sentiments. She aims to induce a sense of emotional resonance among her peers or offer a window through which others can glimpse the emotions experienced by a college student at Rice. Furthermore, she seeks to bridge ancient practices of traditional Chinese painting with artists’ personal narratives by incorporating modern themes and experimenting with unconventional formats and compositions.
