My work deals with “wells” of sensibility. For me, image-making is a meditative and introspective process involving repeat visits to certain destinations with autobiographical significance, in which I am interested in capturing moments that are reminiscent of the discrete memories imprinted in one’s mind that awaken sensibilities for past, future, or present events.
I present photographic images taken during various journeys through different locales (with a focus on the liminal space that is my hometown suburbia), and I present these images in various formats: notably, in pocket-sized zines meant to be carried in one’s pocket for each day of the week. Through the zines, I embark on a journey of self-discovery to grapple with the difficulty of defining moments that awaken empathy. By doing so, I provide a different “pocket” of sensibility for each day of the week, inspiring the viewer to consider, create, and discover moments that awaken their own sensibilities for the world around them.
