ln Twin Flames, I tackle a relationship that is prevalent in the LGTBQ+ community—the hyper-intimte best friends that refuse to acknowledge the romantic undertones of their relationship. These relationships usually occur during queer people's youth when they have yet to acknowledge their sexuality, and tend to end rather tumultuously due to lack of communication. As a representative of the LGBTQ+ community becomes more common in main stream film, I find that it feels foreign to an extent. Representation of queer people in film tends to revel in their suffering or present a sanitized reality of complete acceptance, neither of which are very relatable to actual queer people. With Twin Flames, I am hoping to show both the beauty and ugliness that exists in the lives of queer people.
