William C. Lukes, (1971, Art & Architecture) was a talented photographer, well-known architect and an advocate for animal welfare from Colorado. William Lukes and Paul Hester, both classmates from 1971, remained close friends for many years, often collaborating on projects and visiting one another.
This award has been established through a gift from Mr. Lukes’ estate. It will be given annually to one promising photography student in honor of both gentlemen; Paul Hester a beloved and talented teacher from our department, and William Lukes, a great supporter of Rice University.
