The Barbara Chilton Long Memorial Award in Theatre is a merit-based scholarship that is awarded to returning undergraduate students who have made significant contributions to the dramatic arts at Rice, including: college theatre, Rice Players, or the Visual and Dramatic Arts Theatre Program.
 
Barbara Long Chilton graduated from Rice University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with honors and very much enjoyed participating in theatre productions on the Rice campus.

The award is selected annually and awarded in the spring, just before commencement.  This award is chosen by the director of the Rice Theatre Program and is based on academic scholarship and artistic achievement.
